Setup YUM in Fedora 7 for use with a proxy

Proxy settings in fedora and firefox does not control YUM so

In

/etc/yum.conf

And with vi or other text editor add

proxy=http://server.domain.com:portnumber
proxy_username=username
proxy_password=password

proxy username and password are optional if your proxy requires it

Note: you can read more up on YUM setup in the fedora Documentation “Managing software with yum” heading number 11 “Using yum with a proxy server” available at http://docs.fedoraproject.org/yum/en/
